Job Description

We are seeking a great candidate for a Molding Lead & Die Setter/Mechanic 2nd Shift Temporary-to-Hire position for our client in Leominster. This is a union position upon hire!

SUMMARY
Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities within the department in order to meet the daily and weekly production schedule. Under general supervision performs skilled
mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy and light mechanical equipment and sets up performs die changes as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Starts up and shuts down machines as needed and assigns work to operators daily.

    Supplies machine operators with trays, trucks and all necessary tools to run jobs.

    Performs troubleshooting, skilled mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy and light mechanical equipment, working closely with Production Supervisor, Process Technician and machine shop.

  • Set up and perform die changes as needed

  • Maintains and tests auxiliary equipment such as Mokons and robots.

  • Troubleshoots molding machine process parameters and works with Process Technician to maintain machines within tolerance levels.

  • Prepares daily records of run time logs and material used on jobs; notes any changes at molding machine in logbook provided at machine.

  • Analyzes daily needs of materials and supplies and informs Supervisor of such need to maintain production.

  • Coordinates with Material Handler to maintain material feeding system, make color or powder changes and prepare and produce trial runs.

  • Coordinates with the machine shop and Maintenance Technician to maintain spare parts inventory and lock-out / tag-out supplies.

  • lf the Quality Control inspector judges a part rejectable, attempts to make machine and/or process adjustments to correct problem. lf problem cannot be corrected, may shut down machine and run back-up job., QC maintains final authority to have machine shut down.
  • Assists in training new employees and provides ongoing training within the molding department as necessary.

  • Communicates with other Lead People, Process Technician and Quality personnel both before and after shift to transfer critical information.

  • Addresses any daily problems (machine, quality or personnel) within within the department to the Production Supervisor, Process Technician or Manager of Manufacturing Operations.

  • Ensures the department works in a safe and clean environment, including but not limited to good housekeeping procedures and practices and reports any work-related injuries or unsafe work conditions to Department Supervisor immediately.

Job Requirements

  • Associates Degree
  • 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably injection molding or equivalent combination of education and work related experience
  • Die setting and molding repair experience
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Computer literate
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to do basic math equations
  • Spanish speaking ability a plus
  • Ability and willingness to work during a 24-hour period and on weekends or holidays if necessary
  • Understanding the hydraulic/pneumatic circuits in molding equipment
  • Must be able to obtain a fork truck license or certificate
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend stoop or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to work with chemicals as required

Hours:  3:00PM-11:00PM
